For Registrant Council members:

To apply to be a Registrant Council member you must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with no restrictions on your practice. You must be willing to maintain your registration, including revalidating, throughout the period of appointment.

For Lay Council members:

To apply to be Lay Council member, you must not be, or have ever been a registered nurse, midwife or nursing associate and must be able to confirm that you do not hold qualifications that would enable you to apply to be a registered nurse, midwife or nursing associate.
